Web candy like badge Tut

In this Adobe Photoshop tutorial I will teach you how to make a glossy candy like web badge in just a few easy steps.

candy web badge

First start by locating the default Photoshop badge shape from Photoshop's custom shapes panel and draw it on the stage as shown below.

In the layers panel right click the new shapes layer and choose rasterize layer, now double click the layer to get to the layers styles panel and give it settings as shown below.

Now the final thing to do is to give it a glossy effect, so in the layers panel hold down ctrl and click the shapes layer to load the selection, then with the elliptical selection tool subtract from selection as shown below.

With the gradient tool make a gradient from white to transparent and draw it inside the selection to give you the result as the final image below.

You did leave a bit out of the tutorial, so I agree with UFA there, but he/she didn't have to be so rude about it. Tutorials are supposed to essentially be step-by-step. You could have been a bit more thorough, but it was a great tutorial and worth figuring out the missing steps! Thank you for sharing.

I agree, UFA, but you also need to understand that if [you/or anyone else] owns an expensive program like Photoshop, you might want to LEARN how it works. ..Unless you have a pirated version, then maybe you might want to consider just how serious you are in the graphics field ;) :) I BOUGHT CS2 full out, and have learned just by looking at the tut pics that a simple gradient can help achieve this effect. Good tut, I enjoyed muchly!

I agree, a newbie would get confused with this tutorial, but I have been working for a month, now knowing the most basic stuff, so I can follow the tutorial. Thanks man!

I have to agree with UFA in that you really did leave a lot out of the tutorial.

You shouldChr(34)ve 1) said how to create the diag lines and 2) how to keep the diag lines the same colors as they are supposed to be. Your tutorial would have been good if you had the above two items. I hate people who leave shit out of their tutorials. CantChr(34) stand that!!!
